X hides Polymarket's account from users in India

X's own account data lists India as the one country where Polymarket's account is withheld; what prompted it is not public.

X has withheld Polymarket's account in India, so users there cannot see the prediction-market company's profile or posts on the platform. Withheld means X hides an account from people in the countries it lists while it stays visible everywhere else [1].

X's own account data, read at 1:13 p.m. ET on Oct. 22, lists India, country code IN, as the only country where @Polymarket is withheld. The same record shows about 2 million followers [1]. The record lists no other country, and the account kept posting on Oct. 22, including at 5:56 a.m. ET [1][2].

The limit is narrow. The record covers the account in one country. It does not show Polymarket's posts withheld anywhere else, and it says nothing about Polymarket's website, which X does not control.

That website is a separate matter. In an advisory dated April 25, 2026, India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology named Polymarket among sites that "have been blocked for access in India" under section 69A of the Information Technology Act [3]. Neither the advisory nor X's record ties that block to the X account.

The cause is not public. X's record does not say who asked for the block or under what law, and Le Coin found no Indian government order or court filing that names Polymarket. Polymarket had not commented on X as of 1:14 p.m. ET [2].

What would change the picture is a document. An order published by an Indian authority, a copy of the demand in a public database, or a statement from X or Polymarket would show who acted and why. Until one appears, the fact on the record is a single country code on one account.
