Janus Henderson launches Nasdaq-100 fund JQQQ on Stellar

Janus Henderson and Centrifuge on Oct. 27 launched JQQQ, a licensed Nasdaq-100 blockchain-native fund exclusive on Stellar. It is not available to U.S. persons; eligible investors only where lawfully offered.

Janus Henderson and Centrifuge on Oct. 27 announced the launch of JQQQ, described in a Stellar.org press release as the first blockchain-native fund offering exposure to the Nasdaq-100 Index through an issuer-sponsored investment strategy [1]. Per that primary, the product is a licensed Nasdaq-100 blockchain-native fund launching exclusively on Stellar; it is not available to U.S. persons and is open only to eligible investors in jurisdictions where it may lawfully be offered and marketed [1].

How the product is built

The release says Janus Henderson manages the fund, citing approximately half a trillion dollars in assets under management, with Centrifuge supplying full-stack infrastructure for onchain funds [1]. The strategy seeks to track the Nasdaq-100 Index under license from Nasdaq [1]. Legally, the Janus Henderson NASDAQ-100 Index Fund Segregated Portfolio (JQQQ) is a segregated portfolio of Anemoy Capital SPC Limited, a British Virgin Islands segregated portfolio company; Anemoy Asset Management Limited is the investment manager and Janus Henderson Investors US LLC is the sub-investment manager [1].

Stellar Development Foundation material in the same release places the launch on a network where real-world assets surpassed $4 billion in 2026 [1]. Nick Cherney, head of innovation at Janus Henderson, said the launch expands an onchain platform that "now includes more than $1 billion in institutional strategies across U.S. Treasuries, structured credit, and public equities" [1].

What the principals said

Cherney cast Janus Henderson as "a top five global provider of tokenized funds" aiming to be "the world's most technologically sophisticated asset manager" [1]. Anil Sood, chief strategy and growth officer at Centrifuge, said tokenization is more powerful when assets investors want can also serve as "building blocks for an onchain financial system," and described bringing the Nasdaq-100 Index onchain as a licensed, issuer-sponsored institutional product [1]. Denelle Dixon, CEO and executive director of the Stellar Development Foundation, said the launch shows tokenization moving "from cash-equivalent assets to the benchmarks that define global equity markets" [1]. Sean Wasserman of Nasdaq said the Nasdaq-100 Index has long underpinned a broad range of investment products and that Nasdaq is supporting Janus Henderson as index-based investing extends across more structures [1].

The objection

The release is a product launch announcement, not a U.S. retail offering. The notes state that Nasdaq trademarks are licensed for use by Janus Henderson and that the Corporations do not issue, endorse, sell or promote the product [1]. The fund provides indirect economic exposure to an underlying product tracking the Nasdaq-100 Index, not beneficial ownership or shareholder rights in the index [1]. Collateral, lending and other onchain uses would be third-party functionality outside Janus Henderson's management of the fund and are not endorsed by Janus Henderson Investors [1]. Tokenized-share risks named include blockchain, smart-contract, wallet and third-party platform failure, plus evolving legal, tax and regulatory treatment [1]. No subscription minimum, JQQQ AUM or fee schedule appears in the Stellar primary [1].

The tell

In Le Coin's view, the tell is whether JQQQ shows up as a live, checkable sleeve on Stellar with disclosed eligibility paths outside the United States, and whether third-party collateral and lending rails the release contemplates actually attach without Janus Henderson endorsing them [1]. A second tell is whether the SDF's "$4 billion" RWA claim and Janus Henderson's "more than $1 billion" onchain-platform figure hold up against independent chain and filing data after launch day [1]. Neither is settled by today's press release alone.
