Circle and ACI explore USDC settlement on LatAm rails

ACI Worldwide and Circle on Oct. 27 said they will collaborate to show how USDC settlement can fit into existing Latin American payments infrastructure, with an initial Colombian pilot via ACI Connetic alongside Bre-B.

ACI Worldwide and Circle Internet Group on Oct. 27 announced a collaboration to show how USDC settlement can be integrated into existing banking and payment infrastructure in Latin America, according to a Circle press release [1]. Per that primary, the work is framed as a Colombian pilot through ACI Connetic rather than a claim that USDC is already the mandatory settlement rail for LatAm or for Bre-B nationwide [1].

How the collaboration is built

The release says ACI Worldwide (NASDAQ: ACIW), described as an original innovator in global payments technology, and Circle (NYSE: CRCL), the issuer of USDC through its regulated entities, will use ACI Connetic, ACI's cloud-native intelligent payments orchestration platform, together with Circle's USDC infrastructure [1]. The stated aim is to demonstrate how financial institutions can incorporate stablecoin settlement into existing payment operations and bridge traditional payment systems with emerging digital-asset capabilities [1].

Initial focus is Colombia, where ACI built the central infrastructure powering Bre-B, the country's interoperable instant payments ecosystem [1]. As Bre-B establishes the foundation for real-time, account-to-account payments nationwide, the initiative explores how stablecoins such as USDC can complement that infrastructure in a multi-rail setup [1]. The page schema describes a Colombian pilot for integrating USDC settlement into existing payment operations through ACI Connetic [1]. ACI Connetic is said to bring traditional payment types, digital assets and card payments onto one unified cloud-native platform [1].

What the principals said

Craig Ramsey, global head of account-to-account payments at ACI Worldwide, said the conversation around stablecoins is "moving from possibility to practicality," and that institutions want to see how digital-asset settlement fits the infrastructure and operating models they already trust [1]. Through ACI Connetic, he said, ACI is "demonstrating a practical approach to integrating regulated stablecoins into existing payment workflows" [1]. Kash Razzaghi, chief commercial officer at Circle, said institutions across Latin America are looking at how stablecoins can support payments and settlement "within the infrastructure they already use," and that working with ACI creates "a practical path for institutions to explore how USDC can fit into established payment environments" [1].

The objection

This is a collaboration and evaluation story, not a live nationwide settlement mandate. The release does not publish USDC settlement volumes, a LatAm-wide go-live date, or a claim that Bre-B itself now settles in USDC [1]. It says the initiative helps institutions evaluate how stablecoin settlement can operate alongside existing rails, and that while the work leverages USDC and Circle's infrastructure, ACI Connetic supports an evolving ecosystem of payment networks, digital-asset providers and future settlement models on one orchestration platform [1]. Until a bank names a live settlement path, a disclosed volume, or a dated product filing, the public record is the pilot framing itself.

The tell

In Le Coin's view, the tell is whether a named Colombian institution runs a checkable USDC settlement path on ACI Connetic alongside Bre-B rails, with disclosed operating rules rather than demo language alone [1]. A second tell is whether the "multi-rail" framing produces more than one live digital-asset settlement option on the same orchestration layer, as the release contemplates [1]. Neither is settled by today's press release.
