Glassnode Week on Chain finds Bitcoin quiet under the $84K-85K band

US spot ETF flows net just $67M over two weeks after an Oct. 19 $653M inflow largely reversed; one-month realized vol sits near ~25%, and the Fed decision is backdrop only.

Glassnode's Week on Chain X Article "Quiet Under $85K," posted Oct. 28, 2026 at about 8:56 a.m. ET, frames Bitcoin back under the $84K-85K band it briefly cleared around the September high, with US spot ETF demand faded, smaller realized losses on each dip, and one-month realized volatility back near summer-2023 levels ahead of the Fed decision the same day [1]. The desk extract is that X Article body only; insights.glassnode.com returned 403 on this pack's pass, so there is no HTML mirror here [1].

How Glassnode maps the quiet

Week on Chain is Glassnode's recurring on-chain and flow read. This issue stacks ETF flows and volume, holder cost bases, the $84K-85K last-moved band, macro backdrop into the Fed meeting, a 2023 rebound comparison, wallet-group accumulation, realized volatility and P/L, Hyperliquid venue color, and altcoin breadth [1]. Figures below are Glassnode's as stated for the periods in the article, not Le Coin forecasts [1].

What the metrics show

On US spot ETFs, Glassnode says $653M flowed in on Oct. 19; most of that left again, including $540M on Oct. 22, leaving just $67M net over the past two weeks [1]. Since the start of May, the funds have traded about $1.3B a day; on Oct. 23 volume fell to about $700M, one of the quietest sessions of the year in the article's framing [1].

About 4.3% of all Bitcoin last moved between $84K and $85K, with most of that print on Nov. 22, 2025 from one large holder's internal transfer [1]. Glassnode describes the band as support on Dec. 1 and Dec. 18, a failed reclaim on Jan. 31 followed by an about-20% drop, then resistance in May, early September, and Oct. 21; price peaked at $87.1K on Sept. 23, and since January closed above the band on only five days, never more than three in a row [1]. Cost bases put the US Spot ETF Cost Basis at $81.5K, the True Market Mean at $77.9K, and the Short-Term Holder Cost Basis at $75.8K [1]. Long-term holders (more than 155 days) own about 4M BTC bought between $85K and $118K, mostly in 2025; short-term holder density sits near about $77K [1]. After the Oct. 24 sweep, Binance $80K bids are cited at only $3.4M, with bids shifted to $78K-79K totaling about $42M [1].

One-month realized volatility is about 25% annualized, versus an August 2023 summer low of 18%; the article says Bitcoin has been calmer than the current reading on only about 5% of days since 2015 [1]. At the August low, realized losses outweighed profits by about $630M in a day; around the Oct. 24 sweep the largest daily net loss was about $27M [1]. An Oct. 22 spike is labeled one entity's internal wallets; entity-adjusted profit taking is about $260M a day this week, about half the pace of the week of the September high [1].

Macro is backdrop only: the US Leading Economic Index September reading matched July, and US Consumer Confidence fell 7.1 points over those two months to 48.1, near its lowest since 2009; the Fed hiked 25 basis points on Sept. 16, its first hike since 2023, and the Oct. 28 decision is calendar context, not an outcome claim [1]. Counted from each cycle low, Glassnode puts the 2026 rebound 38% above its June low versus 75% at the same stage in 2023, while 100-1K BTC wallets are this month's steadiest buyers still adding [1]. Color only: over the past week on Hyperliquid, HIP-3 markets traded about $2.6B a day versus Bitcoin perpetuals about $2.4B a day [1]. Among the top 100 altcoins, the share above the 200-day average peaked at 88% on Oct. 4 and has since dropped to 66% [1].

The objection

A fair objection is that a single Week on Chain extract, without the insights HTML mirror (403 this pack) and without a house numeric series file, is a snapshot of Glassnode's stated periods, not a complete market map [1]. Bid walls, last-moved bands, and cost bases move as coins transfer; ETF flow days reverse; and Glassnode's own conditional language ("should," "would") is the research firm's framing, not a Le Coin price target, buy call, or Fed-outcome forecast [1]. The Oct. 28 Fed decision is calendar backdrop at pack time; no outcome is in the extract [1].

The tell

In Le Coin's view, the tell is whether later primary ETF and on-chain prints keep showing thin ETF volume near the May-since ~$1.3B/day pace, two-week net flows near the $67M scale, and one-month realized vol still near the ~25% summer-2023-comparable band, or whether those series re-widen [1]. A second tell is whether daily closes relative to the $84K-85K band and the $81.5K ETF cost basis keep printing as Glassnode described for the periods above [1]. Until those update in checkable primaries, the record is the Oct. 28 X Article extract: quiet under the band, faded ETF demand, shrinking dip losses, and 2023-level realized vol, Fed as backdrop only.
