Aviva adds Sterling Liquidity Fund tokenised class on the XRP Ledger

Aviva Investors launched a tokenised share class of its Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger, its second after a July USD class, with Ripple's press putting the whole fund near £22 billion AUM and the class available to eligible investors with digital wallets.

Aviva Investors has launched a new tokenised share class of the Aviva Investors Sterling (GBP) Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger, according to a Ripple press release dated Oct. 26, 2026 [1]. The release frames the move as the firm's second tokenisation of an existing fund, after a tokenised share class of its USD Liquidity Fund in July 2026 [1]. On this primary, the new class is available to eligible investors with digital wallets; that is the availability language on the page, and this piece does not treat the announcement as a retail offer or a buy call [1].

How the share class is built

Ripple describes the Sterling Liquidity Fund as Aviva Investors' largest fund, with approximately £22 billion in assets under management for the whole fund, not the tokenised sleeve alone [1]. The vehicle is an Ireland-domiciled UCITS money-market fund that uses what the release calls a "digital twin" model: a digital access layer where holdings can be represented on-chain while the existing off-chain fund structure stays intact [1]. The tokenised class sits on XRPL and, per the press, carries the same investment objective, risk profile, liquidity characteristics and regulatory protections as the conventional fund, which launched in 2002 [1]. Target language in the release is low-risk returns and daily liquidity through exposure to high-grade UK Sterling-denominated short-term debt instruments [1].

The launch is supported by Komainu, named as a regulated institutional digital asset custodian, and Licuido, named as a digital infrastructure platform for tokenising and trading real-world assets [1]. Assets are held by the fund's custodian, The Bank of New York Mellon [1]. Across Aviva Investors' two tokenised share class offerings, the press says more than £86 million ($116 million) is invested; Aviva itself put £50 million ($66 million) into the new Sterling tokenised class [1]. Those pound and dollar amounts are company figures from the Ripple release.

What the principals said

Mark Versey, CEO of Aviva Investors, called the GBP class the firm's "second fund in the tokenisation space" and said the expansion shows "clear intent to be a leader in this area" and "sets the groundwork for a future expansion of our capabilities" [1]. He added that Aviva Investors believes "tokenised funds can increase efficiency and ultimately lead to improved client outcomes," and credited the partnership with Ripple [1]. Nigel Khakoo, Ripple's senior vice president for trading and markets, said the second tokenised fund launch on XRPL "highlights the rapid pace of fund tokenisation across the investment industry," and framed markets as moving toward 24/7 access with settlement on always-on rails [1].

The objection

This is a company press announcement routed through Ripple, not an Aviva Investors-hosted newsroom page, and not a claim that every investor can subscribe [1]. The on-page gate is eligibility plus a digital wallet; a separate "professional investors only" or "capital at risk" boilerplate does not appear on this Ripple pull, so it is not invented here [1]. The ~£22 billion figure is whole-fund AUM in the press, not the size of the tokenised sleeve; the invested totals cited for the two tokenised classes (£86 million / $116 million) and Aviva's own £50 million / $66 million subscription are also press figures [1]. "Targets low-risk returns" is the fund's stated objective language in the release, not a promise of return, and money-market funds still carry investment risk under their own risk profile [1]. No fee schedule, subscription minimum, or independent Aviva IR confirmation is in this primary [1].

The tell

In Le Coin's view, the tell is whether the Sterling tokenised class shows up as a checkable sleeve for eligible wallet holders with disclosed dealing paths that match the digital-twin map, and whether the press's invested totals across the two classes can be reconciled against Aviva-hosted disclosure after the Ripple announcement day [1]. A second tell is whether Komainu, Licuido and Bank of New York Mellon roles stay as named in live operational materials, and whether a further Aviva tokenised class follows the July USD and October GBP sequence without stretching past the eligibility language on the page [1]. Neither is settled by today's Ripple release alone.
