Stripe's documentation lists crypto-wallet payouts in dollar-pegged tokens to more than 160 markets as a public preview for U.S. businesses outside New York, at $0.50 plus 0.5% a payout, as of 1:28 p.m. ET Nov. 4.
As of 1:28 p.m. ET Nov. 4, Stripe's documentation lists payouts to recipients' crypto wallets "in more than 160 markets" in public preview, for businesses in the United States [1]. Stripe's pricing page puts the fee at "$0.50 per payout + 0.5% of amount," against $25.00 for a SWIFT wire, the standard international bank transfer [2]. The documentation says the service is "available to businesses in the US, except businesses located in New York" [1].
The payouts are in stablecoins, which Stripe's documentation defines as "a cryptocurrency pegged to a fiat currency or other asset to limit volatility" [1]. A U.S. business funds them from a USD or USDC balance in its Stripe financial account, and recipients receive USDC or OUSD, two dollar-pegged stablecoins, over a supported blockchain network [1]. Stripe lists USDC on nine networks, including Ethereum, Solana and Base, and OUSD on four [1]. It says crypto wallet payouts "typically arrive within minutes, but network conditions can delay final receipt" [1].
The wallet payout method itself is not new. Stripe's API changelog for version 2025-10-29 includes an entry titled "Adds new error codes for the crypto wallet payout method" [4]. What the documentation showed at 1:28 p.m. ET Nov. 4 is the public-preview status and the market list, which names 161 countries and regions by Le Coin's count; Stripe says "more than 160" [1][3].
A second feature is not open. Sending a stablecoin balance to bank accounts in local currency is marked "Private preview," with access by request [1].

On a $1,000 payout, the stablecoin fee comes to $5.50, against $25.00 for SWIFT and $2.50 on local rails, by Le Coin's arithmetic on Stripe's listed prices [2]. On the same arithmetic, the stablecoin fee and the SWIFT fee are equal at $4,900. Stripe also lists currency conversion "starting at 0.5% of the converted amount" [2].
This is a preview, and only U.S. businesses outside New York can send [1]. The percentage fee means larger stablecoin payouts cost more than a flat SWIFT wire, and where Stripe offers local rails outside the UK, Canada, Australia and the EU, its flat $2.50 fee is lower on any payout above $400, again by Le Coin's arithmetic [2]. The recipient also needs a wallet that supports the chosen stablecoin and network, which Stripe tells senders to confirm [1].
In Le Coin's view, the price list points to small, frequent cross-border payments, the kind that payroll for overseas contractors and marketplace seller payouts generate. Below about $4,900, Stripe's stablecoin rail is cheaper than its SWIFT wire; above that, the wire costs less, and local rails undercut both where they exist.
